'South Island' is an upcoming Left 4 Dead custom user-made survival map.
The campaign will take players from a fortified supermarket, through a suburb and into a school. The campaign is based in Hong Kong, where a tropical environment will help create an intense atmosphere. For instance, heavy rain will create an intense environment for the outdoor portions of the campaign. Furthermore, strong winds will make going down long and empty corridors in the school nerve-racking and creepy, especially if you can hear a Tank hiding in one of the classrooms.
Custom textures, models and sounds will be featured the project, as well as merchandise such as mock-movie posters which will be available for print, similar to those in the Valve Store. A plan of the general area that the campaign will be modeled around is available on Google Maps, complete with annotations.
